Olson received a new quote for the retaining wall by Seniors Center for $4410 and a notch in for
the dumpster to increase parking. Olson got another quote for the path through the park.
Prepping the path and the paving was quoted at $6350. Zierke will call the landscaper to give
him the go ahead. Olson wants to get the power in before we get too excited about things. Zierke
will follow up with the landscaper.
Gottenborg still doesn't feel that the retaining wall is a part of the park. Solga said it can be one
of the last things on the list.
Gottenborg plated the five flame willows since last meeting.
EDC Grant meet August 12th 6pm. Need a Park Board member to attend. Zierke will attend,
Olson is to take a cottonwood tree down in EL Peterson. Olson is to give update on other parks.
Solga said park board needs to get a list of things we need to update and fix and maintain in all
of the City parks. For example the paver path in EL Peterson park. Gottenborg asked why we
can’t asphalt the paths. We'd have to asphalt the whole path. Zierke said path stamped as a
possibility, but that would increase the cost. Solga suggested getting a quote for paving the paths
in the parks for planning purposes.
Olson will generate a list of issues in the parks to present to the Park Board. Zierke and all
members are to walk through the parks so that they have a chance to look at them and have
suggestions as well as to be aware of discussions.
Velo Land:Gottenborg and Solga to set up time to meet with Mr. Velo. Plan is to complete in
Planters possibly move one from Eye Clinic to in front of Lake Country Insurance.
Pool update:Solga the City is starting to save money to do the concrete the deck. Olson things
are going great.
White bridge update:It was taken out because of Art in the Park and the additional people
created a concern for safety. People would like to see a bridge back there but because it is a
floatable river we might have to meet DNR standards. Solga will maybe talk to the DNR to see
what the minimum requirements and possibly use it for snowmobiles.
Olson and Zierke were in Peterson Park prior to Art in the Park and were concerned that the
covers on the Rotary BBQ pits are warping already.
